Dear APM115 friends, Here is a list of possible subject for your first project. Each group of three of you needs to choose your first, second and third choices for a project from this list. Please email these **three** selections to both TFs: kurt House ; Michael Weidman ; and **get their confirmation on what your project is before you start working on the project**. The number of groups working on each of the choices below will be limited, so you may only get your second choice (allocation will be on a first come first serve basis). The list, to be presented in class Tuesday Feb 20, follows 1) Multiple species pred-prey model (i.e., 2 prey, 2 predators or other such combinations) 2) Food chain model (i.e., b eats a, c eats a & b, etc.) 3) Seasonal variability for growth and/or carrying capacity of pred-prey model 4) Predator - Prey - Scavenger model 5) Love triangle model 6) Spatially heterogeneous predator-prey model 7) We are open to other related suggestions. (Eventually you will need to come up with your own idea for a project for the third and final projects.) Any of these subjects should be great fun to work on, we hope you'll enjoy this and are happy to help you along the way. The final product of your project is a 10 minutes presentation which will be given on March 6. We will split the class on that day, such that half the presentations will be given during regular class hours and half from 1 to 2:30. You only need to come to the half during which you will be presenting, but are expected to sit through all presentations during that half (and participate with questions to the presenters!). You will need to email your Matlab code used for the project and presentation in power point or pdf format to the TFs. We will be dividing the class into two groups for this purpose. If you cannot attend the latter time slot, please let both TFs know this week. best, Drew, Eli, Kurt, Michael.
